STAR 1-5 and STAR 6-GOLD ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
Star 1-5 Assessments have replaced Preliminary and Junior Bronze Tests. Star 1-5 Assessments will be evaluated by the Coach( who has a Star 1-5 Coach Assessor Status) , on regular skating sessions during the lesson. Star 5 Freeskate Program, Star 5 Artistic Program and STAR 5A - Willow Waltz Assessments must be evaluated on "Clear Ice" . More challenging skills will be introduced earlier, more repetition of skills, and faster progress. No longer will it take years for a skater who has passed Stage 6 CanSkate to complete Preliminary Tests. Now, a skater should pass their Star 1 Assessments 6-9 Months after completing Stage 6 CanSkate.

After Star 1-5 Assessments have been passed, skaters will advance to the Star 6 -Gold Assessments. These Assessments will replace Senior Bronze - Gold Tests. The Star 6 -Gold Assessments are assessed by Skate Canada Evaluators. With the exception of Skills which can be assessed by Trained Coach Assessors or an Evaluator. Dances may be Soloed, Shadowed or Partnered. It is recommended that Skills and Freeskate Elements Assessments be assessed on a regular session. Dances, Artistic and Freeskate Programs must be on clear ice , but can be assessed at an Assessment Day or a Regular Practice and have skaters clear the ice or stand near the boards while the assessment is occurring. All Star 1-5 and Star 6 - Gold Assessments have an Assessment Fee of $12. Coaches bill for their time assessing/coaching for an Assessment if outside of regular club covered coaching, along with Shadow or Partner Fee for Dance Assessments.
